Mount Sinai Hospital - Six-Storey Addition

Mount Sinai’s recent six-storey addition brings an extra 137,000 square feet to the facility. The first phase of the project involved structural upgrades to the hospital and the construction of the a six-storey addition on top of the Murray Street west wing. The addition is home to Mount Sinai’s Women’s and Infants' health facilities, including new labour and delivery rooms, a new neonatal intensive care unit and level II nurseries, as well as modern antenatal and postnatal units and expended ambulatory care space.
Mechanical Systems
The mechanical scope for the first phase included the following systems and services:
- Mechanical integration with existing building (plumbing and drainage)
- Medical gas, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and fire protection systems
- Mechanical work for structural reinforcement
- Mechanical demolition and connection to existing
- Plumbing and drainage

- Generator fuel oil system
- Extension of vent piping, fill piping, alarm switches, installation of three new fuel oil tanks
