Parkin Architects Limited has had the pleasure of working with Geo. A. Kelson Company Limited for over 15 years. Our relationship began with the redevelopment of Southlake Hospital in Newmarket Ontario in the 1998. Since that time we have worked together on numerous Alternative Financed Projects (P3’s) starting with the Royal Ottawa Hospital (2002), the William Osler Hospital (2002) (Brampton Civic), and currently the development of the New Oakville Hospital now under construction. Parkin Architects highly recommends Geo. A. Kelson as a key and valuable component of any significant building project. The team at Kelson brings focus and attention to development of these projects along with imagination and management of all phases through design, construction, occupancy, commissioning and warranty periods.

HH Angus and Associates Limited has been involved on a wide variety of projects over several decades where we have worked with Kelson. Our role has been that of the Consulting Engineer performing the mechanical design while Kelson has been the installing mechanical contractor. Kelson has demonstrated a high level of commitment to all stages of the projects where we have worked with them, from the initial planning through procurement, construction, commissioning, and post occupancy. They have consistently approached the projects in a well organized fashion, and have been able to meet schedules. When the inevitable problems that do arise on a construction site have occurred, we have found that Kelson has taken a proactive approach to finding quick and cost-effective solutions. We have consistently recommended that Kelson be included on tender lists where only top tier mechanical contractors are to be included.
TMP has enjoyed a close working relationship with Kelson for over 20 years. The quality of your tradesmen’s work has always been amongst the best in the industry and the subtrades and suppliers you utilize are motivated to perform. Our recent work with Kelson at the William Osler Hospital and at Royal Ottawa Hospital under the provincial government’s new procurement plan is groundbreaking in that it incorporates the design, the build, and the operating functions. The two projects are reaching successful conclusion and this success has been a direct result of the close and mutually respectful relationship we have enjoyed over the years.
Sanofi and Kelson have worked together in the past on numerous capital projects. In recent years, we have taken our relationship with Kelson a step further and hired them to act in a Design-Assist capacity. This is a novel approach, particularly at Sanofi, that has proved thus far to be very beneficial and we look forward to its continued success. Kelson has worked closely with the project consultants and team to coordinate schedule development, procurement strategy and implementation, and final construction of the mechanical scope. This has resulted in significant cost savings and schedule optimization for Sanofi, and we have witnessed the evolution of this delivery method at Kelson over the years, regarding them to be industry leaders in this regard.
