York Region Administrative Centre Annex Building

The new York Region Administrative Centre Annex was designed to the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency, with glazed openings that provide natural daylight to visitors and occupants. This eight-storey, 422,000 sq.ft. facility offers a variety of public services, such as: Public Health Clinics, Social Services, Ontario Works, Housing Services, Provincial Offences Act Courts, York Small Business Enterprise Centre and Access York Customer Service. Leed Gold certification achieved.

Mechanical Systems

Kelson was responsible for the entire mechanical scope of this project. This included two make up air units with all heating, cooling and humidification for fresh air distribution and building exhaust fed from mechanical penthouse at level 9 through to P2 parking level. Installation of a new boiler plant consisting of 4 main boilers as well as small boiler dedicated to atrium heating. A new chiller plant consisting of 2 centrifugal chillers for main loading cooling as well as smaller scroll chiller for 24/7 building loads as needed. Complete with dedicated cooling towers per chiller. Each floor consists of multiple compartment units for circulation of air throughout the floor to various fan powered boxes and VAVs - levels 1 through 8. There is 4 ramp heating loops are used for snow melting and part of larger dedicated heating glycol system for the parking levels. Installation of piping and plumbing equipment to support the living wall recirculation system, and approximately 80 fan coils through the facility for cooling loads in IT and Electrical rooms.  Kelson installed process piping systems for the following systems: Heating, Cooling, Domestic water, and Natural Gas.
