Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital

The Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility which offers a full range of health services. The new 1.5 million square foot facility with 457 patient beds include three main sections: A 5-storey section for complex continuing care and rehabilitation, which houses a number of programs, such as nephrology; a 10-storey inpatient tower section, containing patient rooms and operating theaters, as well as pre and post-operative support functions and a 4-storey therapeutic and diagnostic imaging section, including emergency care, ambulatory clinics, maternal and adult mental health. The project was so large that joint venture partnerships were created for constructors, architects, structural and mechanical engineers. The Oakville Hospital is complex and technologically advanced in all systems such as Building Automation, security, patient wandering, infant abduction, nurse call and patient entertainment.
Mechanical Systems
The Oakville Hospital consists of 3 buildings. Block ‘A’, including a 6 storey parking structure, block C and Block D all interconnected mechanically, with a common Central Utility Plant (CUP) on the 9th floor of Block D. The mechanical design concepts adhere to the principles of LEED Silver Accreditation. The efficiency of the building automation and other energy saving features aim at energy conservation.

The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships (CCPPP) is proud to announce that the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is the Gold Award recipient in the Infrastructure category of the 2016 National Awards for Innovation and Excellence in Public-Private Partnerships (P3s).
