Projects
McMaster Arthur Bourns Building TP4 Chemistry Wing (Renovation)
Completion: August 19, 2019
Location: Hamilton
Size: 53,800
The existing building structure has been vacated on the upper floors (Levels 2 to Level 4) to allow for demolition and subsequent retrofit of the existing spaces. Once the upper floors have been “stripped” to basic structural requirements, fit-out of the space will be completed. All existing services feeding the lower levels, which pass through the upper floors, must remain in operation throughout the building construction. Once the upper level construction is completed, personnel will be moved, and a similar fit-out/retrofit will be completed on the lower levels.
Mechanical Systems
Kelson mechanical highlights:
Re&Re of mechanical services throughout existing building
Provision of interferences drawings through congested spaces, which incorporate existing structure/interferences and coordination of new services to be installed
Requirement to maintain existing building system in operation, while new work is being installed
Sequencing of shut-downs and tie-ins to minimize/eliminate disruption to spaces which remain in operation during building construction
LEED standard to be maintained during building renovation
