Markham Stouffville Hospital - Addition and Renovation

To meet the needs of a growing community, the Markham Stouffville Hospital added a new building that doubles the size of the facility and enhances a wide range of healthcare services. Upgrades include a new emergency department, expanded ambulatory care, additional beds and operating rooms, new diagnostic and imaging facilities, new mental health units, and improved maternal care.

Mechanical Systems

The new building features three mechanical rooms, a Markham District Energy transfer station (central energy distribution plant), and a green roof. Mechanical details include:

  • Three main mechanical rooms housing 20 air handling units
  • Approximately 70 pumps
  • A ground floor domestic water room
  • Connection to Markham District energy transfer station
  • An untreated chilled water system
