Ryerson University – Maple Leaf Gardens (heritage)
Completion: March 05, 2012
Total Construction Value: $30,000,000
Size: 260000 sq. ft.
The retrofit of the iconic Maple Leaf Gardens encompassed four floors of commercial space and one floor of parking. The Ryerson portion of the project touched the second, third, and fourth floors and added a new ice hockey rink, a new varsity gymnasium complete with weight training, aerobics, and change rooms, as well as varsity offices and mechanical rooms. Other features include a cafeteria on the second floor adjacent to the workout area, two concession stands on the fourth floor, a full commercial kitchen on the third floor, and a small commercial laundry.
Our mechanical fit up included the following work: Install a complete heating and cooling system served by chillers/cooling towers and boilers/storage tank systems. Install air handling units serving the gymnasium, ice rink seating, alumni lounge, and athletic therapy/cardio areas.
